With winter still blowing strong, you may be focusing more on staying warm than planning a spring break getaway.

Well now is the time to plan.  It’s right around the corner – at least, in planning terms and things book quickly.  Here are a couple of ideas that are close by and far away from the Zika virus.

Virginia Beach

Endless boardwalk and loads of entertainment options from amusement parks to whale watching to breweries to golf and tennis. There is something to make everyone in the family happy!

The Virginia Beach Resort Hotel & Conference Center has it’s own private beach on the Chesapeake Bay and if you’re a tennis lover – you get an hour and a half of free indoor court time daily at the nearby Virginia Beach Tennis and  Country Club.

Rates – $599 for a five-night tennis package including a bay view suite, breakfast for two adults and free bicycle rentals.  www.virginiabeachresort.com

Sutter Banks, North Carolina –

Kids and kids at heart can have fun here! There’s a little town name Duck.  It’s a beach town which is home to the Sanderling Resort with everything from an indoor pool, luxury spa, fitness center and, of course, the beach.  You can bike around town, go on a dolphin tour or gather by the fire pit each night.

They are offering a couples getaway which includes a bottle of wine rates start at $159.  Plus it’s awfully cute and charming. www.sanderling-resort.com

And, the Georgia Coast

No need to go zipping by our beautiful coast to Florida for Spring Break fun.  We have it all right here.

There is Tybee Island, St. Simons, Jekyll, and Sapelo.

With a choice of hotels, vacation rentals, condos or camping you can pick and choose more than one.  A combo of islands would make a very special spring break and put a ton of adventure island hopping along our beautiful coast. From fishing and crabbing to kayaking. Or maybe a boat tour along the Altamaha River through the Cypress Trees.  And, if you’re ready for a family adventure with nature, camp on Cumberland Island.

The Sapelo Island Birdhouses were recently named one of the most romantic destinations in Georgia.  Rentals start at $150.  www.sapeloislandbirdhouses.com
