When you hear someone say, “I Love New York” there is a reason. It’s because there is so much to see and do in this one city. Filled to the brim with educational, intriguing, moving and exciting things to do I’m sure everyone has their favorite and I have my top ten things to do in New York City. .

When I think of New York there are many things that come to mind. The only challenge is having a chance to do them all.

If you’re planning a trip to NYC, here are my top ten things that I recommending – making the time and planning the time to fit it all in.

Top ten things to do in New York City

10. A walk down 5th Ave. – There is so much to take in, stores, people, scenery and you can fit a bit of shopping in too. If you love to people-watch this is your area. From the rich jumping in and out of black limousines to a “friendly” local offering to sell you something you don’t need – you can find a little of everything – but a whole lot of magic. And, after all, that’s the real reason to go. And, you’ll find yourself near other spots too – 42nd Street, Broadway – take a detour and visit them too.

9. Rockefeller Center – well if you’re breezing along 5th Ave. You must make a stop at Rockefeller Center. There you’ll find – The Top of the Rock Observation Deck – it is one of New York City’s top Sightseeing attraction! You can see many of NYC’s famous attractions, buildings, bridges and the Hudson River too.

8. Time Square – The whole world is there – right? Or, at least, it feels that way. There is so much activity swirling around you, but it’s all so fascinating to take in. Look up and you’ll see billboards – enormous and bright, look around and you’ll see restaurants, theaters, and shops selling a little of everything. And, this is also the area where you can find discount show tickets. There’s no way you can go to NYC and not see Time Square & Broadway.

7. Central Park – For a casual walk through on your own or take a Bike, Pedicab or Walking tour through the park. The scene of many movies – you will recognize areas around the park and nearby buildings. It is considered one of NYC top must-see attractions.

6. Museums, museums, museums – what’s your interest natural history – American Museum of Natural History, Art – Metropolitan Museum of Art & Museum of Modern Art, and the Guggenheim Museum. You’ll spend the day in either – so much to see, learn and admire.

5. Empire State Building – 103 story landmark with the main observation deck on the 86th or 102nd floor – 360-degree views – indoor or outdoor promenades. Or the VIP Main Deck on both floor too – no waiting in line; it’s double the costs, but your up and in viewing the city much faster with fewer crowds.

4. History buffs – you will want to visit Ellis Island, and that’s where you’ll find the Statue of Liberty – The beauty, the splendor and iconic – we are talking about the Statue of Liberty. And, it’s worth a seeing up close. You also get a chance to see up close the symbol of freedom and for so many it is their family’s first step on American soil – Ellis Island. A tip about visiting – no backpacks, large bags, strollers or umbrellas… The lines can be long.

3. Chinatown – Great shopping, food, and history all rolled into one spot. It’s worth the trip and slow down and take it all in. That’s your spot too for authentic Chinese food. It’s an authentic cultural experience.

2. Visit the Zoo – There are two I recommend Either the Bronx, which is largest and the largest Urban Zoo, and there is Central Park Zoo – smaller but filled with big animals you’ll want to see polar bears, sea lions, and tigers. Bronx Zoo works with conservationists to save wild animals across four continents and four oceans. And, Central Park Zoo – also known as the Wildlife Conservation Society’s Central Park Zoo and Tisch Children’s Zoo. Five-plus acres with a variety of habitats and animals.

1. National September 11 Memorial & Museum – Never forget is the heartfelt refrain after The world Trade Center attacks on Sept. 11, 2001. And, now 14 years later, the National Sept. 11 Memorial Museum is open to memorialize those who lost their lives. – and to ensure we never forget.
