IMG_1430Growing up in the south I have always been a fan of a great porch. Whether it is a wooden floor porch with their squeaky old gray boards or the concrete floor of my porch at the Palace Resorts, where the heels of my shoes go click, click, click.

I love the feeling of sitting outside at home or away. The wind softly blowing and the birds chirping the day away, simply taking in the scenery is a perfect day.

When I planned my trip to Mexico I knew outdoors would be a big part of my trip. I thought walking on the beach with the white sand crunching under my feet would definitely be my go to experience.
But my Southern roots keep pulling me back to the porch outside my room, where the world seems to be close by.

That familiar sound of an airplane flying overhead, brings back memories of many destinations I’ve traveled to. And listening to the staff working on what will be a mosaic fountain, their chats are like a distant song drifting over to my porch.

Even the warm weather takes me home. Funny how I can be so many miles away and be pulled back to what is so familiar. Well, I’m off to another visit on my porch, maybe I will sink into my hammock and soak in the sites and sounds enjoying the salty smell of the ocean. All connecting me to a special familiar place, my Southern roots, which follow me all around the world.
