Let’s Visit Chautauqua, New York Wine Region and I Travel Because

We’re talking about Chautauqua New York Wine Region and I travel because.  Here at Travel Bags With Annita we really enjoy summer and this year we’ve had a chance to visit several really great destinations, some places we wouldn’t think about as summer destinations.  For instance Vail Colorado which is known for skiing and winter sports, the area just doesn’t come to mind for for a summer get away.  But, we had a great time there.

Another destination where we were surprised with all the things to see and do… is near Syracuse,  New York and it’s is Chautauqua County, New York.  Summer is a perfect time to visit.

Annita had a chance to take a tour which highlighted Chautauqua County’s wine trail, cultural and historical attractions as well as time to enjoy the beauty of the regional lakes.

Each evening she stayed at the very comfortable private rooms over looking the lake at the new Chautauqua Harbor Hotel. This tour is perfect for adults traveling on a getaway… maybe without children and are in search of leisure learning experiences, historical tours, the arts, cultural attractions and wine.

Here’s a list of the places Annita visited:

Dunkirk Lighthouse for the lighthouse lovers is first on the list.
Admire the magnificent view of Lake Erie from the observation deck.
Check out their website at dunkirklighthouse.com

I travel because I want to share the world with my students not from a book perspective but a personal perspective

Liberty Vineyards -has a long list of tasty wines to please all wine lovers.

Brix Winery provides a great opportunity for wine tasting and stopping by to find just the right wine to compliment your meal… and take some home for those meals at home.

Johnson Estate Winery for wine tasting and also a walk around the vineyard.

Did you know that Lucille Ball is from the area?

You can also visit The Lucille Ball – Desi Arnaz Museum to see memorabilia of her life with Desi and all of the remarkable contributions they made … not only to comedy, but to broadcasting.

The Chautauqua Institute – I had an opportunity to spend time with the Director of Strategic communication and Community Relations – Jordan Steves.

And, as part of the I travel because series, I spoke with my friend Lenzie Lucas about why she loves to travel.  She also shares how we met.
