Push the winter doldrums away and take everyone to the indoor pool! There are aquatic centers all around our cities. Check county websites for the one nearby and start winter fun with the kids.

Who needs to be down during winter months – here are our wet and wild ways to blast the winter blues.

Winter does not have to mean staying inside and waiting until Spring arrives. Water fun is available year round in aquatic centers near home or an exciting getaway.

Here are five ideas for getting the kids in the water and putting the fun back into winter.

  1.  Bogan Park Aquatic Center
Open year round with several options to splash through winter.  An indoor competition pool, a giant waterslide, and water play structures.  Smiles and giggle are back in no time with fun hours each day of the week.
No diving boards for now, but a dip in the water brings a halt to the winter blues. For more information on fees, hours, what to wear, pool rules and directions, visit their website – all the info is there. www.gwinnettcounty.com and telephone:  678-277-0850
  2. Frances Meadows Aquatic Center
Winter doldrums?  How about a winter party for the kids to bring back the giggles! Bring out the swimsuits for fun during the time when beach balls bounce away.  A Saturday at the local indoor pool can bring out the sunshine.
Check their website for hours, fees and opportunities to create your winter Splash party.

  3. South Cobb Aquatic Center
Take a Winter Break from school and the blahs! From February 15 – 19 come and enjoy an indoor pool and water slide.  No need to travel far during winter time while school is out. Stay close and play hard.  For more information, fees, directions, and activities visit their website:  www.cobbcounty.org
  4. Kalahari Resorts
Getting away from it all maybe just what you’re looking for. And, add water fun – in massive amounts and you’ll have the whole family on your side.  Located in Sandusky, OH, which is smack-dab in the middle of the state,  the African-themed Kalahari Waterpark Resort, is water fun on steroids.  There is so much fun to have; you’ll need a couple of days.  Something for kids of all sizes and ages will have fun! For more information visit their website www.kalahariresorts.com
  5. Bethesda Park Aquatic Center
Bethesda Park Aquatic Center is located just down the road in Lawrenceville.  With an indoor leisure/water park pool with beach entry, river channel, hydrotherapy benches, water play structures, vortex, ceiling spray, and a four-lane instructional pool and wet classroom; plus water basketball and volleyball. A bonus – parents get to play too.  The facility requires parents to be in a bathing suit in the water with young children – sounds like a day of family fun.  For more information visit their website www.gwinnettcounty.com
