“There’s an app for that!”  What a funny saying, but oh so, so true.  There are hundreds of apps which make travel easier, less stressful and more organized.  For the elderly and senior travelers and their families, an app and also travel websites can make all the difference in a safe and manageable trip or one filled with bumps and barriers.

Here are a couple of great resources: Research the website and download the apps

AARP – American Association of Retire Persons is a membership organization.  Their mission is to provide helpful information for seniors to live healthy and productive lives.  The app provide up-to-date information  and a wealth of resourceful information.

AAA – American Automotive Association – Road trip?  AAA provides everything from maps, destination info, driving directions to hotels and so much more.  Their app brings all of this information to your phone and easily accessible to travelers planning their upcoming trip and those already on the road.

Living Abroad – This website offers educational and well informed information for anyone traveling internationally.  www.livingabroad.com

CDC –  The Center For Disease Control and Prevention has several apps to help with understanding aspects of your healthy while traveling.  The various FAQ areas will provide the latest information and an especially useful app is TravWell.  cdc.gov

TravMed – This website provide a wealth of great information to help you assess any personal health questions you may have and information on how to stay healthy while traveling.  www.travmed.com

Waze – The amazing app of navigation, directions and traffic conditions.  This popular app is one to have on a road trip.  www.waze.com

iExit – On a road trip it is great to know where the best stops are located.  Which exit has what I need; a restaurant, restroom, picnic area.  According to iExit, “Your GPS will tell you how to get there, but iExit will tell you where to stop along the way.”  www.iExitapp.com

Trip Case – Keep all of your vacation plans in one location on your smart phone or tablet.  This app helps you stay organized and up to date on any changes to your scheduled plans. www.tripcase.com

Google Maps – A favorite of most travelers for navigational information which includes car, footpaths, bus or train.  With update of miles to go and time to your destination, the app keeps you up-to-date and ready for the next road trip.  www.google.com

Momondo – Where to go and how much will it cost?  This website can display airfare around the date on any given date.  Plan far in advance or the next day using this website.  Plug in dates and the site will show you were the great airfare are location.  Are you ready for a last minute trip?  Check out www.momondo.com

Gate Guru – Check flight status, book rental cars, airport amenities and restaurants; anything you want to know about what’s around your gate.  www.gateguru.com

Your hotel, airline, rental car – download them all.  These apps are the best way to stay up to date on your reservations.
