Girlfriends Getaway to Gulf Shores and Orange Beach

Let’s plan a girlfriends getaway to Gulf Shores and Orange Beach! Sometimes we get so busy that it’s hard to spend quality time with friends. The weeks can go by so quickly that before you know it, it’s been far too long since you’ve sat back and relaxed with your favorite group. Planning a girls trip is a great way to experience something new while being able to set aside dedicated time for catching up, laughing and having fun.

In the past on Travel Bags With Annita & Friends, we’ve talked about how to plan the best girls trip possible. One of the first things you and your girls need to decide on is a budget. Planning with a budget in mind will help determine where you go and the activities you plan for your trip. After you’ve decided on a destination, you can assign driving shifts if needed, decide who pays for what and make sleeping arrangements.

Beach time is the perfect way to have fun in the sun; and sand.

Keep on Summering well into the Fall in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach.  A beach trip is always a great choice because even if there isn’t room in the budget for lots of spending, you always have the beautiful waves and sunshine. Sometimes the best days are spent relaxing in the sand, reading and enjoying the company of your close friends. At Travel Bags, we’ve really come to love Alabama’s hidden gem of Gulf Shores where you can enjoy a “Second Summer!” Fall temperatures are extra-warm and you can not only continue to enjoy the scenery all around with the shoreline and inner coastal waterways, but there are plenty of fun things to do around town. There’s so much to do, in fact, that you can plan your trip around a small group with common interests or travel in a big group where everyone can spread out and do their own thing.

If you and your friends love history, Gulf Shores has a wide variety of museums to explore. The Fairhope Museum of History traces artifacts all the way back to early Native American civilizations, through the Civil War, World War II and beyond. It pays special focus to local people who served during World War II. Another tribute to World War II is nearby. The USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park showcases the battleship that was utilized in World War II as well as the USS Drum which is the oldest US submarine on display.

For more scenic looks into history and a close by drive from Gulf Shores, visit the Bellingrath Gardens and Home. You and your friends can enjoy 65-acres of a well maintained garden with plenty of photo opportunities! The Bellingrath home was built in 1936 and now showcases the former homeowners’ extensive collections and it also hosts events year round, including Christmastime!

Plan fun group activities and take home a special souvenir.

In addition to the pictures you’ll take, maybe you can create your own souvenirs too. You and your friends can make one-of-a-kind creations with Christie’s Paint n Shop. What’s great about Christie’s is that you can arrange for their team to come to you! Whether you’re renting a beach house or staying at a bungalow, the team will bring the supplies and guide you through the process. Take in more art and create your own too at the Coastal Arts Center of Orange Beach. Within one building you can tour the fine arts gallery, make your own blown glass art and create clay sculptures.

Of course, many of us just want to relax during our vacation. You and your friends can treat yourselves and rejuvenate at a spa that does it all. Pay a visit to CC’s Salon and Day Spa. You and your friends can enjoy facials, massages, manicures and pedicures, and even haircuts and makeovers!

Gulf Shores and Orange Beach is the perfect spot for seafood lovers. There are many options to grub with your girls.

Wind down after a long day with a relaxing dinner cruise. Perdido Queen dinner cruises provide guests with a buffet dinner that includes two entrees, three sides, green salad and dessert. Live music and dancing also take place onboard. While cruising around and having fun, keep a sharp eye on the water; you may spot dolphins and other water wildlife swimming around. Take in the beautiful ocean scenery, enjoy a full dinner and then head up to the open air top level to dance the night away sharing laughs and reminiscing over “oldies but goldies” music.

There’s something for everyone to enjoy at Gulf Shores. It’s okay if your friends have different preferences too. You can always pair off for activities during the day and regroup at dinner or on the beach to share all of your adventures. The most important thing is that you’re spending quality time with dear friends, relaxing together and making new memories. Try to leave work at home as much as you can so that you can enjoy the moment. Another important tip is to leave behind a general itinerary so your families at home can keep track of your whereabouts. As you’ve seen, there’s so much to do at Gulf Shores that it’ll be a lot of fun planning your itinerary with your girls!
