My darling Cape Town

It was love at first sight! The moment I saw your amazing curves, mountains, beaches, wineries, wildlife and culture I knew this was a relationship that would last forever.

There’s something about your light- from sunrise to sunset- that makes everything so clear- I can see why many movies want to film there.

The coming together of so many cultures produces your unique personality- and of course resulting in some amazing music and food.

It’s just as easy to get drunk on your personality as it is on your amazing wines!

And thanks to your exchange rate I feel like a million dollars when I am with you- you are someone I can eat with at the best possible places without worrying about the bill.

But my favorite restaurant is a little local secret in Muitzenberg. It’s called Carla’s after the owner. They do steak or prawns. Or steak with prawns which is always my choice as I love then both . But that’s it- oh apart from the one thing on the dessert menu which is Chocolate Cake. But boy do they know how to cook their steak and prawns to perfection! And the owner Carla is a personality once met never forgotten.

However many times I go to see the Penguins on Boulders Beach I never get bored- they are such funny little personalities and what an amazing experience to watch them up close. Even sun bathe and swim with them!

But it is your variety that keeps me interested. The wineries in Franschoek, the drive up Chapmans Peak, the beauty of Kirstenbosch gardens, a run along Sea Point, the beautiful beaches of Clifton, the whales at Hermanus, I could go on forever…

As I hope my love affair with this great city will go on forever too.

The Cape Tonians have such beautiful smiles no matter how much or how little they have. So I always tip generously, and take a suitcase of old clothes and donate to [need to find this out as it’s a BA friend of Peter] , to give something back to people that have given me so much.
