Hawaiian Islands Land and Sea
Part 1

Hawaiian islands land and sea

Hawaiian Islands – land and sea is how I experienced these beautiful island earlier in 2024. I toured with UnCruise, a cruise line with a different approach to seeing our favorite destinations.  You may ask what is an UnCruise. It’s not very hard to explain.

What does the name mean?

  • UnCruise is all about the adventure and exploring destinations off the ship.
  • Creating enriching adventure where you explore nature, culture and the people who live in the destinations
  • Uncruise is also about protecting the environment and works to provide sustainable opportunities in the local communities they visit.
  • Working with local guides and businesses keeps local communities thriving.
  • One key component of the company’s mission statement is to actively promote environmental protection through education, actions, and initiatives that promote responsible travel
  • The company started with cruises in Alaska – itineraries to Alaska remain one of their key destinations
  • They started with one yacht but now their are multiple ships and other destinations have been added.

Visiting the Hawaiian Islands land and sea is one of the itineraries offered by UnCruise. Alaska, their original itinerary along with Galapagos, Baja Mexico, Aleutian Islands and a new addition this year, Prince William Sound means there is an itinerary everyone will love.

My cruise sailing the Hawaiian Islands land and sea was filled with adventure. I started  in Molokai with a full day of cultural experience in Halawa valley. There we visited a family who has lived in the area for 50 generations.  We talked with the father and son about Hawaiian culture and how to announce you would like to come for a visit to the historic valley.  The traditional blowing of a shell call the PU, what we would call a conch shell or large whelk shell, alerts your host that you’re near and would like to visit.   We learned about the history, culture and family’s long legacy in the valley. Part two of this series on the Hawaiian Islands land and sea shares conversations with the family. Make sure and listen for an informational and enlightening chat.

This episode of Hawaiian Islands land and sea shares conversations with the UnCruise crew. What’s it like to sail with them on their Safari Explorer ship and how you too can have an adventure, unlike any cruise you’ve had before.

The Safari Explorer is built for comfort and luxury too, it holds 36 passengers max with 18 cabins with two decks for relaxing and checking out the scenery.  Dinning area, lounge area, library and music room complete the passenger areas where sing-alongs,  nightly presentation about Hawaiian islands land and sea,  history, culture, land and wildlife are shared.

UnCruise is known for their adventure. Excursions are active with a choice of paddle boards, kayaks, Skift rides to explore the shore, snorkeling, Viewing the sea life – including the manta rays and whales is all part of your day.

A visit to their open bridge gives you an opportunities to see how the crew navigates the waters. On my cruise we had a female officer guiding us along the Hawaiian Islands.

Our meals included local seafood where much of the food is source from the various islands visited.

Take a listen to my conversations with the crew and make sure to check out part 2 of Hawaiian Islands Land and Sea it’s all about Hawaii culture and history on Molokai.

Now it’s time for you to plan your UnCruise Adventures. Check out their itineraries and set sail for fun on land and sea.
