Poker rocks the south with a massive tournament

Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort in North Carolina has made some big waves in the poker world. The World Series of Poker (WSOP) circuit event held there this year set impressive records. One thousand, three hundred and fifteen players helped hit a record on April 6 as the largest poker tournament ever held in the south.
The resort also broke the record for the largest senior poker event outside of Las Vegas. “We had 648 seniors for a non-gold ring event,” said Nolan Dalla, media director for WSOP. “In fact, the biggest I ever recall was around 400 or so in Chicago two years ago.”
The weekend event was so successful that the dates for next year’s tournament have already been set for April 3-14, 2014 at the casino.
Anyone over the age of 21 can register and compete in the tournament. This year’s registration is still open until April 15.
