About last night. It was wonderful; shared with dear friends visiting from Norway. Dan and Johanna were our first guests at the @sapeloislandbirdhouses We have remained good friends through the years.

@husksavannah served several delicious dishes. I highly recommend many, many items on the menu. But…. OMG. The Pimento Cheese Ball topped with Collard Chow-Chow, Elliott Pecan Granola and HUSK pickles. Perfect to spread over homemade Benne seed crackers. …….Can I say yum three times. Yes!! Yum, yum, yum!! So delicious!
We also had scallops with sea island red peas, NC Trout with Kennebec Potatoes, and Prime Strip in an exquisite Béarnaise sauce.
Chef Brian definitely puts the love in the food.

Cuenca, Spain! The beautiful, picturesque city in

Cuenca, Spain! The beautiful, picturesque city in the La Mancha region. Cuenca is a UNESCO World Heritage site for the Hanging Houses built as early as the 15th century along the high rocky cliffs. Houses were built on rock foundations and outcroppings. While they look precarious yet also gravity defining, they were sturdy and several stories high. As the population of Cuenca grew places to settle and build homes became scarce - building up and “over” was the best option.

Although many of the original houses are no longer standing or hanging, there is one home Las Casas Colgadas, translated literally as The Hanging Houses is still standing and in use. It is the location of the Cuenca Spanish Museum of Abstract Arts and restaurant. Featuring a delicious menu created by Chef and owner Jesus Segura.

A dear friend made this for me after a visit where we walked along Nanny Goat Beach on Sapelo Island. We collected sand dollars, driftwood and most of all made life long memories. On one of the sand dollars she collected, she painted a picture of the serenity and peacefulness of the island and especially the beach.
