Senior Travel and Aging
Stay Active and Young at Heart

Did you miss the show?  Or maybe you’d love to hear it again.  Here’s the playlist with each of the four segments.  And, read below for more info about our friends who joined us to chat about aging and travel.

Senior Travel and Aging – Stay active and young at heart and with your friends too!  What a great topic!  And there is more to it than deciding where to go and when.  Over the last three months I have dug deep into all the various aspects of traveling with your friends. We have shared great tips on creating a budget and planning, having good travel manners and handling any disputes which may pop up when traveling with friends and how to have a experiential getaway with your besties.

On our last show we talked about how millennials are traveling with their friends.  Is there a difference between how millennials and  baby boomers experience traveling.   There are many ways to travel and explore on the surface, but our travel with friends series is all about finding ways to enrich travel, be mindful, and having a safe experience is a very important part as we age.

This week we shift our focus to travel and aging.  How do we stay active as we age?  We say travel… and we don’t leave you with just a suggestion; we have tips and more tips on how you or someone that you know can stay active as a senior.

Senior Travel and Aging- Stay active and young at heart Our guest, Shelley Webb, Aging Expert, will share from her experience, how planning, preparation and evaluating our limitations is the best way to go on a great get away.

Shelley Webb is a social media manager who also runs a blog dedicated to helping women over 50 make the rest of their life the best of their life.  When she is not at her computer, you can find her networking with peers, experimenting in the kitchen, playing with Isabella, her miniature schnauzer, or dancing with The Blazen Divaz.

Senior Travel and Aging-Stay active and young at heart And, our guest Katherine Batey is retired and loving her life on the road.  She has made new friends through travel and stays active by going on cruises and traveling with her daughter and  new friends.  Here in her own words she tells us all about what makes Katherine so much fun to travel with.  “I was born in a small town in Wyoming and after my mother died at 17 I left home, opened a record store, got married had 3 kids, divorced after 10 years.  Ran away from Wyoming to Seattle to be a radio jock. With no college degree I have managed to finagle my way into the fields of broadcasting, marketing, advertising, interior design and finally as a transit and train/streetcar operator in Seattle where I retired this past year.  I bought a beach house 2 hours south of Seattle, back to where it all began…in a small town.  8 grandchildren, 3 grown children.  Kiko the Shiba Inu, Karma the Tortie Hemingway kitty, and Chili Pepper the Betta are my immediate family.  My side hustle is selling fashion on Poshmark for ”Cruise Money”.  But I am now seeking out a trip on the Coastal Train from Seattle to LA.  I am helplessly curious, absorb books, and constantly creating “something”.

We have a long list of  tips to discuss, so join us and take the worry out of travel.
