When we travel, we all want a deal. That’s just what we do….. look for a deal for our dream destination. 

When deal hunting, it’s important to keep a few things in mind. Here are our six tips:

1. When you see a deal… book it…. Of course you need to have the time off. If you have the time off, or your schedule is flexible and you can travel on the specified dates…. Book it….. when you see it.
2. For both airlines & hotels – Look for the “ticket by date” or “book by date” … if you don’t see that, you could have the deal disappearing right before your eyes. Those deals are not designed to last over a period of time. Those truly are a grab it when you see it type deal!
3. For the best deals on airlines – book it fourteen days in advance. Earlier is better…. But definitely try for fourteen days.
4. Airlines will allow you to book 341 days in advance of travel. So it’s not too early to start planning next year’s vacation and really save on airfare.
5. A deal is only a deal when it works for you… so always remember that what looks good may not always be good for you.  Check the restrictions and exclusions. For example, as part of a special deal, an all-inclusive resort may not offer the alcoholic drinks they usually include in their package .  Or some water sports and activities may be extra. Always check to be sure!
6. Apply for and use a credit card that rewards you with points that you can use on air travel and hotels. Cards that offer double points are even better. Use credit cards to pay for everything. Helps you keep track of spending and you can pile on the points too!
