If you’ve ever dreamt of escaping to an island paradise, the Intercontinental Tahiti Resort & Spa provides the perfect French Polynesian backdrop. It’s located on the main island of Papeete where visitors can relax on tranquil beaches or shop in the city all while taking in the ocean and volcanic mountains in the distance. After spending the day enjoying all the island has to offer, guests can return to the Intercontinental’s luxurious selection of overwater bungalows and rooms with scenic views.

There are 245 accommodations on the property. Standard rooms come with either twin beds or a king bed. Guests can also choose between standard rooms with a tropical garden or lagoon view. Superior rooms are larger than standard rooms and offer the same viewing options. Panoramic rooms provide more space and privacy than standard and superior rooms. They are equipped with either two queen beds or one king bed. The panoramic balconies of these rooms are 97-square-feet, and they provide views stretching from the hotel’s gardens to the infinity pool and the lagoon.

For even more privacy, guests can stay in overwater bungalows. These structures are modeled after traditional Polynesian homes built on stilts over the water. This design allows guests direct access to the water, and the bungalows are still conveniently located near the Intercontinental infinity pool. While the bungalows are available in a few different sizes, they all feature a separate lounge and bedroom layout.

All accommodations offer air conditioning, a balcony or terrace, bathrooms with a shower and tub, a flat-screen cable TV and Wi-Fi.

There are several dining options at the Intercontinental. Te Tiare is a restaurant that highlights Tahitian culture and traditions. It is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, offering light tropical dishes and live-shows during dinner twice a week.

Like the bungalows, Le Lotus restaurant is located over the water. Guests can enjoy light lunches or gourmet dinners and choose from a list of French wines. The Tiki Bar is a great place for socializing or to simply enjoy a cocktail while watching one of the weekly live shows.

Tahiti is home to a vibrant reef ecosystem. Guests can learn more about this ecosystem and see its wildlife up close at the Intercontinental’s Lagoonarium. Its conditions are monitored by a team of scientists, creating a safe habitat for parrot fish, Picasso fish, corals and over 200 other species of sea creatures.

Guests can also make the most of the beautiful surrounding waters with snorkeling, kayaking, water skiing and jet skiing opportunities. Not only is the coastline beautiful, the tropical island landscape is also worthy of an exploration. Guests are encouraged to hike the jungle trails and Intercontinental can help arrange half or full-day excursions to the nearby islands of Bora Bora and Moorea.
